AgriVoltaics Conference

Since 2020, the annual international conference on agrivoltaics is hosted by changing institutions. During the conference, scientists share their latest findings from the intersection of agrivoltaics with agronomy, photovoltaics, economics, policy, and social sciences.


AgriVoltaics2022 took place from June 15-17, 2022 as a hybrid event in beautiful Piacenza, Italy, which not only has a great tradition in power generation, but also hosts two of the largest and oldest agrivoltaic-facilities in Europe!

Building up on the success of AgriVoltaics2020, the conference is being held annually. People with different backgrounds are brought together to strengthen the global community and to accelerate the development of agrivoltaics.

AgriVoltaics2021 took place from 14th to 16th of June under the motto ┬╗Connecting AgriVoltaics Worldwide┬ź. It was chaired by the Head of Group Agrivoltaics at Fraunhofer ISE, Max Trommsdorff.

The first agrivoltaics conference was initiated by a cooperation between Fraunhofer ISE, the National Research Institute for Agriculture, Food, and Environment (INRAE) from France, and Conexio-PSE GmbH. Over 350 participants from nearly 40 countries from the research and industry sector as well as agricultural and photovoltaic associations participated at the conference.

During the conference, up-to-date research results were presented in either oral lecture or poster sessions. A broad range of topics and vivid discussions revealed the dynamics with which the community is currently developing worldwide.

The results presented covered technical and economic as well as agricultural and political aspects. Innovative types of agrivoltaic-constructions were shared, modeling and simulation concepts were demonstrated, shading effects on different crops were analyzed, and water management concepts were presented.

A virtual tour also provided a detailed insight into a tracked agrivoltaic-system in viticulture. Q&A sessions and round tables provided space for discussions.
